Lewis Hamilton Trades Prancing Horse for Real One

He has seven world championship titles, but now he’s won all our horse girl hearts too.

Lewis Hamilton is a British Formula 1 driver widely regarded as one of the greatest in the sport’s history. He made his F1 debut with McLaren in 2007 and won his first World Championship in 2008. After joining Mercedes in 2013, Hamilton dominated the modern F1 era, tying Michael Schumacher’s record with seven world titles and surpassing him in race wins, pole positions, and podium finishes. He now races for the infamous “Prancing Horse” aka Ferrari.

Beyond racing, Hamilton is a global icon known for his activism and influence. He has used his platform to advocate for diversity, environmental sustainability, and animal rights, and he’s become a prominent figure in fashion and culture. The only thing lacking from Hamilton’s extensive resume is equestrianism… until now.

During a recent photoshoot in Austin for his merchandise collection, Plus 44, Hamilton finally had the chance to live out a childhood dream.

The caption reads, “First time on a horse, definitely not the last. Allergies have prevented me from riding horses, so this is a really big moment for me.”

Hamilton has spoken before about his severe allergies and asthma. In a conversation with Road & Track, he recalled a childhood experience that left a lasting impression: “When I was younger, there used to be a horse in a field nearby,” Hamilton said. “It was always on its own every day, so I’d go and stop, and it would come over to me, and I’d spend time with it. But then I’d start walking home and notice my allergies start kicking off, and I’d struggle to breathe. I’d really struggle, and I didn’t know I had asthma. It wasn’t until I was around another horse another time and had an asthma attack—it was a really scary experience, because I didn’t have an inhaler or anything. So I stayed away from horses since that day, when I was probably 14.”

Despite a swollen eye and a somewhat questionable grasp of the difference between a trot and a gallop, we love seeing Hamilton embrace the horse life and doing it with his trademark positivity. Could horses be his next big thing? Or maybe a pet store venture is on the horizon?

Either way, we’re fully behind you, Lewis, and we send our deepest condolences for the loss of your son, Roscoe. 🖤

Go riding.
