Celebrity Equestrians: Beau Mirchoff

Returning to her roots, Amanda dives back into her old series, “Celebrity Equestrians,” to fangirl about Beau Mirchoff.

Like most Canadian actors, Mirchoff made his equestrian TV debut on Heartland way back in 2007. Portraying Lisa’s spoiled nephew, Mirchoff had to lie to get the part.

He confessed to Victoria Times Columnist, “I said, ‘Uh, yeah. My uncle owned a ranch in Washington. I used to go there every summer, but I’ll probably need a couple of lessons.'”

The character was short lived on the show, lasting only one season before he “went away to university,” so Mirchoff hung up his half chaps and moved on to other projects, and it wasn’t until he started dating psychologist and equestrian Jenny Meinen that his social media took a distinctly horsey turn. I couldn’t dig up much information about Meinen other than that she’s super accomplished — she received her second master’s degree in 2022 — and she absolutely loves horses.

Mirchoff always seems to have had an affection for horses, but after falling in love with a die-hard horse girl, there’s really only one thing to do. Learn to ride and buy yourself a horse. Which is exactly what Mirchoff did in 2020.

Then he really upped his game, purchasing a second horse for Meinen on her birthday. Her reaction is absolute perfection, and I think we all swooned a little bit. As one commenter said, “Find you a guy that buys you a good-looking horse.”

After that, Mirchoff’s social media became littered with picturesque trail rides and horsey snuggles.

It all came together when Mirchoff was cast in Hallmark’s new series, Ride.

He told Tell Tale TV, “For the last few years, I’ve been getting into horses, horseback riding, and looking to get a ranch of my own,” he said. “So, this script came to my desk, and the character was complicated and interesting. All the characters were. They had their clear destinations and intertwined really well with each other, and I just loved the world.”

Speaking with Wide Open Country, he added, “I got into horseback riding a few years back. My fiancée grew up riding horses, so she taught me and we have a couple horses now. It’s funny, actually. I was setting goals and I put in my goals that I wanted to get on a show that was centered around horses, and then this came around. I don’t want to say I manifested it, but…”

The real question is: will Mirchoff get on a bull next?

His costar Tiera Skovbye said, “Oh, he really wants to get on a bull.”

To which Mirchoff replied, “I could do eight seconds no problem. No, actually, I don’t know. I have a good seat on a horse, and that’s part of the battle. I also would love to do it, so I think the adrenaline would help. You want a little fear, but you still don’t want to be afraid to do it. I think my first few rides I’d get bucked off right away, but with practice maybe I could be okay. It’s really hard to do, though. It’s really, really difficult.”

Only time will tell if Mirchoff will add bull riding to his list of attributes. For now, we’re just happy to have another equestrian in Hollywood.

New episodes of Ride are available every Thursday on Hallmark.
