Northstar Needs Your Help

In a horrific act of animal cruelty, a 6-year-old gelding was doused in flammable liquid and intentionally set on fire last weekend in Athens Township, Pennsylvania.

Northstar’s owners discovered him badly burned in his field on Sunday, August 26 at the farm where he was boarded. Initially in shock, he was transported to a local veterinary hospital where he was treated for severe burns and has since been stabilized. [Huffington Post]

Donations are being collected for Northstar’s veterinary care to help his owners, the Woodworth family, with his expenses. Anyone wishing to contribute may send a donation to the Northstar Fund, c/o Marley Veterinary Clinic, 11416 Hydetown Road, Titusville, Pa. 16354. Donations can also be made to the “Donations for Northstar” account at any PNC Bank branch. Additional information can be found by visiting the “Donations for Northstar” Facebook page or Northstar’s website.

Anyone with information about this case of animal cruelty is asked to contact the Pennsylvania State Police at 814-663-2043 or toll-free, at 800-922-1975. A $1,500 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
