Fantasy Farm Thursday: $11 Million Gingerbread Barn in Germany

All the adorableness of a Rhineland fairy tale, all the decadence and craftsmanship of a world-class barn.

Imagine the most perfect gingerbread house made by obsessively meticulous elves with all the little German folklore details, and then imagine that those elves were also rich beyond your wildest imagination and had incredible taste in equestrian pursuits. This is the only plausible scenario by which I can imagine this magical, world-class facility coming to fruition:

Also, I think we’ve solved the mystery of what it is that Santa’s elves do during the off-season.

The property was built in 2006 as a sort of all-inclusive equine experience – from breeding to young horses to starting to finishing to refining to competing – you can do all of it year round here.

There are a whopping FIVE barns on the property, a massive and pristine indoor arena tricked out to the nines, a clubroom, workshop, covered eurocruiser and multiple outdoor rings, paddocks and trails. Each barn has its own charm and serves its own little function, from broodmares to sport horses. Three of the barns have their own apartment / living quarters attached. There is also a conditioning track and all sorts of spare work spaces, storage, offices and more.

In addition to the “help” living spaces, there are TWO charming homes with all the luxury details, including gardens, swimming pools, and big fancy kitchens for entertaining all your elvish friends. (I mean, really, Santa’s Christmas Bonuses must be up there with Wall Street.)

But the elves are apparently getting out of the horse business, and this finely crafted equine paradise is currently listed at €10 million (which translates to about $11.2 million, at the moment). You can learn more about this property at Waggenraad Real Estate’s Website.

Go Riding.
