Watch: Winning Round of Calgary Stampede Cowboy Up Challenge is Insane

I’ve seen a lot of things in my life, but I ain’t never seen a horse jump a mounted Texas Longhorn Rack before.

The Calgary Stampede has been running the past week, and the Cowboy Up Challenge Monday afternoon was certainly a highlight of the iconic event. The Extreme Cowboy Race requires the horse and rider to maneuver through a series of completely nutzo obstacles at a full gallop, and the winning ride by Jim Anderson and his mount Marilyn Monroe is a thing to behold.

For winning the event, Jim takes home $8,000 of the $25,000 purse, the richest and most-well attended of the extreme cowboy races in the world.

The event is by invitation only, and the Calgary Stampede reserves those invitations for the best cowboys and cowgirls in the world.

Even more meaningful for Jim, this was his final run at the event with Marilyn Monroe, who has done right by her man for enough years to earn a retirement from the Races. Jim was the first ever Road to the Horse Wild Card Champion, and also the World Championship Winner in Colt Starting. You can learn more about Jim at his website and on Facebook Page.
