Australian superstar mare Winx has shattered the record books again, winning her 29th straight victory and 4th straight Cox Plate.

Winx, Australia’s great racing mare, has once again achieved the impossible: she’s become the first horse in history to take four Cox Plates. She’s achieved this feat consecutively, with her latest Cox Plate victory her 29th straight career win.

Winx settled into the middle of the pack out of the gate, and for a few moments looked as though she might be forced three-wide into the first turn before she found running room. She remained in a tactical position in the backstretch, never far from the leaders but never in the thick of the fight until jockey Hugh Bowman made his move.

As though she had been simply strolling along, Winx exploded out of the turn and blew away the rest of the field, briefly challenged by Benbatl who hung on valiantly for a few strides. The race was won some yards before the wire.
