Watch This: The Alpaca Derby

Step aside, Jimmy Fallon and your puppy predictor: the Alpaca Derby is the new big thing.

Amidst all the build-up to the weekend’s Kentucky Derby, you may have seen Jimmy Fallon’s unique method of picking a winner: the puppy predictor. Basically, he assigns each of the favorites to a puppy, then lets the puppies “race” to the finish. (This year, the winning puppy was Mendelssohn, who finished last in the actual Derby.)

Puppies are cute. You know what’s equally captivating? This field of alpacas, called by NBC’s own Larry Colmus, race in a unique method of picking a winner.

Ultimately, the alpacas were led by My Boy Jack, who finished fifth in the actual Derby. Slightly more accurate than Fallon!

Go riding.
