Fantasy Farm Thursday: South African Equine Getaway

The cure for what ails you: South Africa. Or at least daydreaming about it.

If you’re having a horrible, terrible, no good very bad week, month, or year, sometimes the best solution is a fresh start. In a new city maybe. Or, you know, a new continent. The opposite continent, maybe. The farthest away edge of the opposite continent.

It might take you awhile to get your horse there, but you know, totally worth it.

Welcome to Kyalama, South Africa, one of the most beautiful, picturesque spots in the world rich with history, culture, new food and experiences, and very very far away from hurricanes, wildfires and U.S. politics. Just saying.

This sweet little estate on 1.5 Hectares (3.7 acres) has a beautiful home with lots of traditional South African architecture and a great little equestrian villa. It’s in a very equestrian neighborhood with loads of horse-related amenities and beautiful views. The community is conveniently nestled halfway between Pretoria and Johannesburg in the northeast of South Africa.

The barns have a style typical to the region of shed rows rather than dark contained barns, so your creatures will get plenty of splendid African sunshine. There are 10 box stalls, a tack room and grazing turnout with sheds. The arena has been professionally done with great footing and proper drainage.

The home is lovely, opening up onto multiple courtyards, gardens, a darling pool and guest cottages (so the people you don’t wish good riddance to can come visit, of course!)
