SpectraVET Performance of the Week: Martin Fuchs Wins With Daring Jump-Off

Great news, jumping fans: the Longines Global Champions Tour is now underway. The winner of the first tour stop in Mexico City was Switzerland’s Martin Fuchs aboard Chaplin: watch their epic jump-off here.

If Martin Fuchs of Switzerland isn’t on your radar yet as a show jumping fan, here are a few reasons he should be:

1. He’s definitely an up-and-coming star this year, just coming off of a strong fourth-place finish at a competitive FEI World Cup Finals in Omaha, Nebraska.

2. He firmly belongs in the “bright young things” category of show jumpers — this whiz kid is only 25, putting him into the wunderkind class alongside other ridiculously talented young international riders like Bertram Allen and the Philippaerts twins Nicola and Olivier, among others.

3. From what we’ve seen of his horses — the gorgeous and talented Clooney and the handy and equally gorgeous Chaplin — they’re totally amazing.

4. This jump-off round in the grand prix for the first stop of the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour:

Chaplin certainly wastes no time in the air, and Fuchs masterfully pilots the horse to make sure they waste no time on the ground between fences either. Will Martin Fuchs be able to repeat his great victory in Mexico City this weekend at the second tour stop in beautiful Miami Beach? It remains to be seen — keep an eye on our sister site Jumper Nation for updates!
