Horses in Ads: Volkswagen Trailer Assist

Just a little friendly reminder that if you can’t laugh at yourself, you probably shouldn’t be an equestrian.

We joke that horses have a sense of humor, and that horses can laugh at us in their own way — but let’s imagine for a moment that our wish came true and horses were actually perceptive and logical enough to laugh out loud at our foibles and mistakes.

This ad for Volkswagen’s trailer backup assist plays with that idea and finds that a world in which our horses could literally LOL at us might not be as much fun as we thought.

Hey, we get it — backing up the trailer is definitely not an intuitive skill that comes naturally to most of us, and it takes a lot of practice to get it just right. And that’s a lot easier without the four-legged peanut gallery chuckling at you over the fence. Be careful what you wish for, folks.
