Horsenista: Bathroom Decor

Bringing equestrian design in to the bathroom without breaking the budget.

When I decided to redecorate my tiny bathroom the first thing I said was, “I want it to have horses.” That’s an open ended statement that is sometimes harder to translate than decorator’s realize. While we “mature” equestrians want to incorporate our undying equine love in to all decor, we also don’t want to look like we stepped right off the set of My Little Pony Tales.

Here’s what I ended up with:

My big budget item was the floor. I went with tile that looks like aged wood befitting a stable. I also splurged on a vintage looking clock that I pictured in an old school carriage house and an abstract shower curtain a la a shady Chinese dealer on Amazon — I know it says “One Day Shipping,” but it actually took close to six weeks.

Overall, I’m extremely happy with the results. It says “horse girl,” without shouting, “HORSE GRRRRLL!”
