Fairytale Ending: The Final Days Before Kentucky

The Retired Racehorse Project’s Thoroughbred Makeover is gearing up at the Kentucky Horse Park and our blogger Caitlin Brady is on her way! Catch up with Caitlin and Azorian and follow their progress.

Caitlin Brady has been blogging for us throughout the Thoroughbred Makeoever retraining process. If you’d like to catch up on Azorian’s story, click here for Caitlin’s past columns.

We are a few days away from the Makeover and the stress is weighing down! Azorian has been rehabbing the past four weeks allowing the SI to heal. We started back last week and now we are just four days away! It’s hard to believe that the Makeover is already here; we have had months to prepare. Before rehabbing, Azorian and I were moving along and he was performing great; of course, with horses we always hit bumps in the road that can cause setbacks but ours just so happened to be in the last month of training before the Makeover. Our vet visit last week went well and we will see how he progresses throughout the week! Coming off the rehab I made the decision to remove Azorian from the jumper portion of the Makeover and we redirected to be entered into the Freestyle division where we plan to do a bareback demo to music (if all goes to plan).

We will be loading the trailer Wednesday morning for the Kentucky Horse Park where we will be arriving later that afternoon! Make sure you come by barn 5 to visit with Azorian at stall 543 and 544!

I took on another OTTB named Big Big Star this summer who will be coming along to be part of the Accuhorsemat demo on Friday afternoon so if you are attending the makeover make sure you stop and check out the demo! Big Big Star will be available for purchase at the event; own your own OTTB!

The Ambassador Award voting has opened for the public to vote on their favorite horse and rider; Azorian and I would greatly appreciate your votes and a chance to be named Retired Racehorse Project Makeover Ambassador!
