Video du Jour: The haunted stables – a true story
This video gives me the creeps. Have any of you had paranormal experiences in old barns? (And no, “My horse keeps spooking at things that aren’t there” doesn’t count.)

Yes, scary story, but all we have is HER word of what happened. I need more than that to truly scare me.
What about haunted new barns? A student and I were sitting across from each other in the barn aisle a few years ago and in a lull in the conversation we heard the distinctive sound of walking hooves come down the aisle, pass between us and fade away. We ran around the whole place looking for a loose horse but everyone was tucked away in their stalls.
Crazy! The same thing happened to me at a barn I worked at a few years ago. Clip-clop, clip-clop and then… nothing. Lots of weird energy on that farm–it seemed almost protective? Someone was trying to break into the owner’s house, which was on the property, and the guy impaled himself on the fence… my working student found him dead–yikes!!!!!
That…is scary. About the break-in, anyway.
Definitely made my hair stand on end but same thing as what you describe–did not feel malicious at all, just one of our fallen friends stopping in to say hello.
It’s worth mentioning that the exhibition ground in Toronto and the horse palace in particular (where all the horses are being housed for the Royal) are said to be haunted. They say they hear phantom horses on the second story all the time and that they’ve had weird things happen. One story I remember involved some people from the riding school there playing ball with their dog. The ball got thrown a little hard and ended up upstairs but before they could get to it the ball came rolling back downstairs. The upper floor was completely abandoned because it isn’t really needed except when the barn is at full capacity during the EX or the RAWF. Kinda creepy. Ive always found the horse palace pretty terrifying when it’s not full of horses
