Friday Roll Call
What are you up to this weekend? Me, I’m continuing my October lesson-a-thon, in which I drive 3 hours to Tryon, NC, each week to take a 1-hour lesson, then drive 3 hours back home. So efficient, I know! Yet somehow, so worth it.

ACTHA ride at Brasada Ranch in Oregon. I did one waaaaaay back in 2002. It’ll be interesting to see how the sport has evolved
Competitive trail? I don’t know a ton about it but it sounds like such a fun sport. You should write a story for HN about how it goes!
Octoberfest!
Beer, yum:)
At the KY Horse Park!
Ah! A horse trials! I looked it up: http://www.kyhorsepark.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=4804:octoberfest-horse-trials&Itemid=880. Are you going in costume?
No, but saw some really good ones!
I hope to go watch an American Warmblood Society Inspection Saturday. No riding, unfortunately–severely sprained ankle (not a riding injury, but you’d be amazed at the number of people who’ve asked me if it was horse-related (well, maybe you wouldn’t be amazed)).
I always think it’s hilarious when people who participate in a high-risk sport like riding get injured, like, tripping down the stairs or something equivalently silly. Hope you’re back in the saddle soon and have fun at the inspection!
I am running from zombies tonight, judging dressage at Octoberfest tomorrow, and taking 2 trailers full to a hunter pace on Sunday
OMG! Run fast. Great preparation for the real deal zombie apocalypse, which I think is supposed to happen in December or something. Good luck and have fun at the hunter pace!
I’ll be showing at an IHSA Hunt Seat show with the Indiana University Equestrian Team! Go Hoosiers!
Good luck! You IHSA people are amazing. If someone asked me to jump an entire course on a horse I’d never ridden before, I’d be like, “Um, no way!” Brave girl:) Good luck!
I’ll will be showing in my first IHSA show! Then Sunday will be spent doing homework.
Ditto good luck to you!!! Homework, yuck.
Going to the Furlongs to Fences event at Fair Hill with one of my fine OTTB’s!!!! Ride an ex racehorse!
Fun! Fun! Fun! Go OTTBs!!!
The TB trail ride through Fair Hill was beautiful. What was amazing is when 32 racehorses and ex racehorses were all galloping in close company across the open fields (plus the one game Standardbred we picked up along the way) with only one getting a bit strong. You have got to love them!
Awww, that sounds amazing! I bet they loved it.
I took my recently OTTB there too:) he was fantastic, I was so proud
Pricked ears and bright eyes happy!
Taking 8 excited teens, and 6 not so excited horses to a Halloween horse show tomorrow. Sunday heading to my lesson that is 3 hours round trip to get there!
Another crazy person! Suddenly, I feel less alone. Have fun at the show–is there a costume class? Hope so. Omg, did you see the pictures of Reed Kessler at Cat Woman in the Washington International Gambler’s Choice? Who can pull that off!!! Hate ‘er. (not really)
Horse Trial! Sadly it’s the last one of the season, but thankfully there are CTs all through the winter and being in the southeast the eventing scene cranks back up early in the year!
Good luck!!! Yay for being in the southeast, tho. The USEA calendar for Jan-March is more packed than I’ve ever seen it–I guess everyone is hoping for another mild winter.
Jump schooling and trying to write my FTR column for next week!
Ooh!! New computer, I assume? Hope your jump school went well:)
A little late, but went to the From Furlongs to Fences show too with my OTTB and some others from the barn. Great show, well run, and the weather held out! I hope they continue to have this show, it was an awesome event! Like Jon said, ride an ex-racehorse!!!
How could one not like smart, spirited, good looking and hard working in a horse? Ride an ex racehorse!
Such a cool event! Ride an ex-racehorse!!!
