Casting Call: Mine That Bird movie seeking extras

Do you look amazing in a fancy hat? Can you feign surprise when 2009 Kentucky Derby underdog Mine That Bird wins a reenactment of the race? Would you like to make a little cash?

If you answered yest to any of these questions, you just might have what it takes to be a background actor in the upcoming feature film 50 to 1, based on the story of Mine That Bird, the horse that came out of nowhere to win the Derby in ’09 against 50-to-1 odds.

Heyman Talent Louisville is accepting digital submissions through 6 p.m. today, Thursday Oct. 11–email that you’re interested to [email protected]–or visit the agency in person at 1205 E. Washington Street, Suite 107.

More than 500 actors are needed for the scenes, which will be filmed on Friday, Oct. 20 at Churchill Downs.

You must be at least 18 years old to apply and identification is required.

According to the Courier Journal, “50 to 1 is being directed by Academy Award-winner Jim Wilson from a screenplay he co-wrote with screenwriter Faith Conroy. Some of the cast include: Skeet Ulrich as horse trainer Chip Woolley; William Devane as equine veterinarian and co-owner of Mine That Bird Dr. Leonard Blach; Bruce Wayne Eckelman as renowned horse trainer Bob Baffert; and jockey Calvin Borel, who rode Mine That Bird to victory, will portray himself.”
