Stable Science: Smell my helmet!!
My barn buddy Jocelyn got the idea to store her helmet and gloves in the freezer from an online forum, and she swears it keeps her stuff smelling fresh with the added bonus of keeping her head cool.
Why it works: Unless you have the luxury of a temperature-controlled tack room, you know that hardworking horse gear can get real stinky, real fast when stored in a hot, stuffy tack truck. Keeping your helmet and gloves in the freezer stops gross stuff like mildew from developing, and a box of baking soda will absorb odors that are already there.

No way! Where would you put the ice cream?
Hmm. Would the cold compress the foam?
If not, that’s a freaky/cool idea. XD
Yeah, that’s what I wonder? Does the, comparatively, extreme temperature change effect the integrity of the helmet?? If not, move over horse meds, I need room in the feed room mini fridge!
Sounds like a great, but impractical idea. I rotate between two helmets and I like to use odor eaters shoe spray. Kills the smell and the bacteria!
Ooh! Good tip
What do you do in the winter?
