I couldnt possibly list ALL of the horse-related mascots out there... and there are a lot more than I realized, like Cowboy Joe and Racer One... but I did know about UVa's Cavaliers. I did *not* know the Cavalier was subjected to an unvolountary dismount from his trusted steed! Maybe next time I'll feature mishaps of equine mascots!

I went to the University of Virginia and while we don't let our horse run around the field every touchdown (which would be AWESOME), we do have a mounted Cavalier charge into the stadium ahead of the football team each pre-game.

The man who does this has been doing so for several years, and has used two mares to perform the job of "Sabre" during that time. I had the pleasure of working for this man a few summers ago, and taking care of his polo ponies. He gained some notoriety on ESPN three years ago after his normally sweet, gentle mare bucked and dumped him on the field at her very first home game. (I can actually be spotted in the marching band in this video)
