I totally admire this standpoint of commraderie among boarders. I remember being that kid who was dropped off to "fend for myself." I think it taught me at a young age how to be independant and to think responsibly. On the flip side, I also had really great parents who taught me how to behave myself when they weren't around. I don't know if it was the former or the latter that kept me out of trouble, but I will say this....

Boarding at a nice facility is a luxury, and many adult riders go there to relax and spend time in peace and quiet. A lot of boarders avoid "kid barns" all together because of parents that let their kids run rampid. I don't think theres any shame in asking someone "Hey can you keep an eye on lil Susie while I run to the grocery store?" But don't expect me to babysit without asking. I would rather have someone ask me, than just assume I'm ok playing substitute mommy.. ya know?
