Having been a coach/trainer myself, I’ve experienced this with students and you (and the trainers) did a great job! To speak to your point, I had to challenge myself at one point when personal situations were getting me down; my awesome mom told me to move my horse up to Preliminary at the show coming up in a couple weeks rather than doing Training level again. It completely took my mind off of “real life”, challenged my horse and me at the show AND improved our partnership for future shows. Some of our confidence issues (mainly about a huge ditch/brush fence) were squashed! Sometimes you just gotta do it (whatever “it” is) to change your riding, your mindset and your partnership.
