Let’s Discuss: Do you have a pre-competition ritual?
Maybe you have to listen to Eminem’s “Lose It” on xc morning or recite Sanskrit mantras before you enter at A, or maybe you can’t showjump without your lucky socks. Tell us about it!

I have a pair of lucky socks that my friend’s horse bought for me at May-Daze a few years ago. I won’t go to any show without my lucky Banff Socks and I make sure I wear them for any other important riding engagements where I need some extra luck! They are white with big pink polka dots on them
When I was a kid doing western 4H, I of course had the spectacular polyester black slacks that I wore over my cowboy boots (they were the standard alternative to chaps if you couldn’t afford them) and they would ride up after you’d been on awhile. So right before I went in for a class I’d always ride to my mom and ask “could you please pull my pants down?” and that became a familiar good luck moment at every show. Oh the nostalgia!
All I can say is: My good luck strategy is entering at A, not at X. A small trick, but successful.
Haha, yes:)
